Include the route to work in planning
A safety concept does not start at the work position itself. Access to it, transitions and movement during the task must also be considered. Use, maintenance requirements and existing installations provide the starting point.
We discuss with you whether the task concerns an existing installation, new access or inspection of existing installations. Personal protective equipment and instruction for its users are separate, complementary occupational safety topics.
Six areas of building safety
- Collective edge protection: temporary and permanent guardrails
- Anchor points and cable and rail systems: building-specific safety installations
- Vertical fall protection and access routes: ladders, walkways and roof crossover platforms
- Safety netting: temporary personnel safety nets
- Fall-through protection: for example, for rooflights and continuous rooflights
- Special solutions: individually tailored protective structures
System selection depends on the conditions at the building. Planning, installation, maintenance and inspection must be expressly defined in each commission.
Existing documentation makes inspection easier
For existing installations, manufacturer specifications, installation documents, previous inspection reports and an overview of installation positions are useful. Photos can support an initial assessment, but do not replace an agreed on-site inspection.
Specify the planned tasks and how often the area is used. This allows access and protection requirements to be discussed more precisely. The required scope of services is defined according to the existing conditions.
